Unfortunately we were not able to purchase a Lofrans Tigress windlass, which would have replaced the broken one we have. Fortunately, we were able to purchase a Lofrans Falkon, a much better windlass and more suitable for this boat!
Unfortunately, the Tigress mounting pad will not fit the Falkon base, so we need a new one.
My question is; would you use Starboard or wood? It is easier to find a piece of Starboard wide enough for a one piece mount, but nothing sticks to that stuff and it does definitely shrink and swell with the temp, so I worry about a waterproof seal. A good hardwood, especially teak, would be great but it's hard to find a wide enough piece, especially down Grenada way.
We have a cambered deck so a mounting piece is essential.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
