I've been wanting to do this to our 1993 model as well. The best I could figure out was mounting a plate (perhaps elevated) across the rear of the anchor locker for a horizontal style unit. I suppose an additional battery forward somewhere makes more sense than a long heavy gauge run of wire from the stern. Jeff

Good afternoon, after a bunch of research and noodling on it, I desifded to go with a vertical Windlass that will sit just aft of the anchor locker and just of center to starboard. I have seen a coupe of these installationsand they seem to be the best fit for the Legend series ( I have a 1992 35.5. A couple of things to think about... 1. In the 35,5 the moter assembly will be in the v berth just aft of the anchor locker but shoul leave plenty of move about space. 2. the Vertical that I ordered has a drum as well as a chain/line Gypsy but no chain tube pointing downward as the rhode exits the windlass. This means that I will probably be kicking line and chain into the locker as I am raisuing the anchor but then I can fit the system where I need it without cutting into the locker cover. 3. Your anchor roller is not centered so installing the windlass a bit to starboard will help with a smoother feed. 4. The two uits that I eventually narrowed it sown to were the Maxwel VM 800 (not positive on the model) and the QUick Rider 1000 you can contact Marisafe in the US they are the distributor.
