Windlass for H280

Need advise here. My friend wants to install a Windlass on his H280 (1997). The anchor well is very shallow, probably no more than 6-8".
Appreciate anyone who has knowledge or had done similar installation/modification, please advise and instruct who it should/could be done.

Hi Ken,

I was recently forced to install a Lewmar V-1 windlass on our 1999 H-310. Bloody neurosurgeon said I'm going to wreck my back without it. I doubt he knows the first thing about sailing.

Obviously I stand corrected, but I thought the anchor locker for the H-280 and H-310 were somewhat similar in configuration (shown below) just smaller. Sorry, I haven't got any pictures of the new installation yet as I want to make a small change in the layout before photographing the finished product.

If this does happen to be similar to your friend's layout, let me know and I'll send you all the material I have to date and what I intend to modify before moving on to other pursuits this winter.

Ralph, your anchor locker is somewhat like mine. But the h280 is really very shallow without the pad area for a Windlass. I'll try get some photos when I go to his boat. It'll be awhile more.

Windlass Install

I put a Quick Windlass in my 306, 300 ft of rode. Tight but works well! There are pics in a post from earlier this year. Let me know if you want details.
