Attention Northeast sailors: Please pick up November issue of Windcheck. Hopefully my article about our recent Whitebread Regatta will be in your edition.
It was edited for space and I haven't seen it yet. I hope readers will enjoy.

When was the race

Shemandr, Nice writing. We had our Frostbite Regatta (http://www.quanticoyc.org/News.PDF) on the 16th of October and it was very windy (25-28 knots with gusts to 33). We also had a great day although your party sounded a lot fancier. You mentioned Greenport and I have been to the Orient Yacht Club and that area is absolutely gorgeous, although your summers are a bit too short for my taste.

Ted, The Mouth of the South, Turner won the Fastnet race around the southern tip of England, which had some of the worst sea conditions in the history of the race and resulted in some sinkings and deaths. The wind was similar to that which sank the Spanish Armada. When asked by the British press how he liked the weather, he said (Paraphrased) "I loved it and you bastards should too or you'd be speaking Spanish right now." True Story. Fair Winds...

Thanks for your kind comments.
The jib in my boat, Artemis, isn't furled - if that's the one you mean. It kind of looks like it because we are on a reach and the sheet is eased.
The bottom photo is really much better. Bridget a good photographer of boats. She gets the drama and beauty of a race. Most of the others we've hired for this event don't. They have nice cameras but don't have a clue what to do with them. You can see more of her work here : http://www.northforkmemories.com/ or here for this race: http://www.northforkmemories.com/2010whitebreadxvii/bestof
