I have an Autohelm 6000 on my boat a 1989 hunter40 legend, I noticed it can be used with a factory fitted wind vane, this would suit my planned boat use, my question is does anyone know where I may find a pre loved one of thsse little suckers?????

You need to connect it to the wind meter
At least that is how my 4000 works. I have the ST60 wind meter and the ST60 Tridata connected to the autopilot via the SeaTalk cable. Not sure off hand, but I seem to recall from last season that when I push both the Auto and Standby buttons at once, I get into the windvane mode. I would think the 6000 works the same way. Check your instruction manual. If needed I can dig mine out before the season starts and let you know.
