Hi everybody
This is my first post to this site and hope to get some feedback regarding my proposed setup.
I am presently in the process of building wind generator stands for the aft quarters of Jake" and a solar panel carrier on top of my bimini. I have purchased the following items for installation and invite any comment as to the set up and the placement of these items.
4 x 130w solar panels
2 x D400 stealth wind generators
1 x Blue sky solar booster 3024i
1 x Blue sky current booster module
1 x Blue sky IPN Pro remote charge controller and battery system monitor
1 x 500amp shunt
1 x dump load kit
1 x 2000w sinegex pure sine inverter
Once all this gear is in place I intend to purchase 2 x 220AH AGM batteries and 2 x 165AH AGM batteries Any comments regarding the setup and placement would be much appreciated. I dont intent to run a generator.

Before you buy AGM you will want to make sure ALL the controllers have a setting for those type batteries. You can not mix and match battery types due to the different charging voltages.

Wow, that is a lot of power. What are your consumption calculations? What do you expect to power with all this?

I have 2 - 130w panels and a single wind generator with a total of appr. 520AH AGM batteries. We run refrigeration/freezer 24/7 with power to spare for instruments, water pump, lighting, etc.

We have an engine driven gen but have never used it while cruising. We do not run the AC, microwave or TV while cruising. We can get hot water from either the engine or our 12v diesel furnace.

Nice equipment. If you've not already bought the D400's you might also consider the AirMaax made by Elecromaax in Canada. A very sweet piece of gear and on-par with the D400's.

My only comment is that your bank seems on the light side for all that charge capability especially if two of them were 6V in series for 12V, but you don't say. Multiple 6V batteries would take up less space and give you a "matched" bank..

Also if those batteries are to be in one bank they should ideally be same size, brand, model# and date codes. Mixing batteries of different sizes can lead to long term life cycle issues.

Also consider that with two wind gens they can sometimes develop an odd "oscillation" noise/frequency that can be quite annoying.

When you hit absorption voltage you'll also have a battle for voltage supremacy and the controller or regulator with the slightly higher voltage will win out. If it is a windy but slightly over cast day and the solar still wins, with a slightly higher voltage, you may want a method of adjusting the voltages so the charge source with the most potential is actually doing the charging. For example if the solar controller was 0.1V higher than wind, the wind controller can sense that as a full bank and my begin to "dump" into the dump load or water heater rather than the batteries. In bulk none of this matters as neither controller is at the "limiting" voltage..
