I have one of these wind scoops but no idea how to hook it up. I figure I attach the top to the job halyard, but there are a nummber of hooks at the bottom that I can't figure how to attach or hook. Anyone know how to work them?

Bungee Helps

Wind Scoops are worth their weight in gold if they are set up right and giving you optimum air flow. The instructions are easy enough. Its the wood dowel that lodges inside the hatch that holds the bottom of the air scoop to the boat. The dowel they provide can be cut shorter if your hatch is small. The key is after attaching the wind scoop to the halyard you want the scoop as upright as possible to catch the wind. So in order to achieve that, you need a length of bungee cord you attach to where the halyard is attached to the wind scoop. Place the other end of the bungee to the forestay or around the furled headsail. This will hold the scoop out but upright. I have a piece of bungee cord (3-feet) dedicated just for our wind scoop. You'll get the picture once you start setting it up. Bob 30 Catalina

Check Out Breeze Booster

On a Moorings Charter in Belize we were introduced to the Breeze Booster airscoop: it pops up and connects to any hatch and really scoops the air. Several different sizes to choose among. Don't have to attach it to anything other than the hatch--you drop a dowel inside the boat and it holds the entire contraption in place. Super cool, and cheap.
