Wind instument not registering after hurricane

I have a 1997 HUNTER 430. It went through the recent Hurricanes on the hard at Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas. The wind instruments at the masthead look ok and when the instuments are turned on the wind speed registers, but the wind direction moves off to the right and then it defaults to two dashes on the display. I have cheked and cleaned all of the conections except at the masthead. Don't like to go up there unless I have to. 60 plus feet. Any ideas,

Try first a re-calibration as per the manual. If that doesn't work, the transducer at the masthead is toast. So, get your climbing boots on... RD

Bearing may need replacement

Hi Loren - As Rick indicated, try reclibrating first. If that doesn't work, you'll need to retrieve the masthead transducer. There's probably a local Raymarine repair facility in your area. In the NW, that's The Offshore Store. You can send your masthead in for testing - you might be able to replace just the bearing or direction assembly. Alternatively, complete masthead 'ducers are generally available for B&G, Raymarine, etc. Best of luck, Trevor
