I have connected my CP150C to my WP30 wheel pilot and it works great for motoring and navigation, but when I connected my Navman Wind 3100 instrument to the GPS, I am not getting information to the wheelpilot and thus can not sail to wind. However, when I bypass the GPS, it seems to get the signal. Has anyone overcome this problem.. and what did you do? Suggestions needed and welcomed.

Too much information...

The auto pilot steers to either the GPS info or the apparent wind info. How does the AP know which info to use? I think you need a switch or a processor to tell the AP which device to steer by. One of those devices may have that capacity, check the manual again.

Thanks Joe, this is what i have found out

The GPS receives the information from the wind unit, however, for some reason it is not "passed thur". Talked with all the manufactures and the same idea was suggested by all.. use a switch to bypass the GPS. I wired a DPDT switch in place that will allow me to choose the GPS data or the Wind instrument data. This seems to work just fine and I will use it this way for now. Thanks for your posting.

Dave... I thought it was something like that...

Sounds like a reasonable, inexpensive solution. I'll bet the instrument companies like Oakam, Raymarine, B&G, etc. make a fancy interface where you can manage everything with a computer... but who needs it? Good job.
