I am setting up a new boat and wanted some advice on wind indicators. Has anyone used the Garmin GWS 10 Wind Indicator? It looks like a good mid range instrument. On our old boat we just a Windex and a hand held Anemometer. It worked, but with the new boat I thought it would be nice to have one but I wondered if it was necessary? :)

Check out the Tac Tic also, solar powered + wireless data= no wiring in the mast. And it's about the same price. I don't have one yet, but it's on the short list. Maybe, somebody will comment or compare.

Thanks

Thanks John! I did look into the TackTic and it looks very interesting. This may be the way to go. I did not find much in the way of reviews though. It appears to be a pretty new product. As you say it is on my short list.

Richard...

Check out Moor's Apparent Wind Speed unit (@ Defender or others). It is very reasonably priced compared to wireless units and works very well. Does require wiring up the mast.
