I know that there a bunch of lake sailors here and there are many types of lakes and many kinds of sailors.
Some of you might know that Lake Travis is just outside Austin, TX and a few may know that they have been having bad droughts there in recent years.
I met a fellow who keeps his boat there (or did keep his boat there) and was surprised to hear this report from him: http://www.bfsshop.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=page&id=47&chapter=4
Losing a boat like that must really hurt a lot. I might just have to buy a few beer coozies an maybe a hat from his site to help him out.

I also posted this because it should be taken as a cautionary tale to anyone who has a boat on a lake where the levels are falling like Lake Travis (-40ft. water line).

Beneteau First 36.7 Lake Travis
We have a boat on Lake Travis, and perhaps because it is a lake we might have become a bit complacent. A few years ago because of low water levels our dock was moved out of a basin into the river. During a storm a dock-line parted at the splice. Since then we now use somewhat more expensive mil-spec dock lines and check the lines frequently.

I just revisited the site and found this: "The Saddest Day of a Sailor's Life...I Was Horribly Wrong. On March 10, 2013 while returning from a weekend gathering at the family ranch we were involved in a head-on collision. My beautiful, angelic wife of 20 years, Alicia, was at the wheel and died at the scene."
