and what a bargain ....$30K for the skypump, and $3-5K for the GE charging station and grid tie...

And then the whining from the neighbors/lawyers/green freaks about property values declining, liability of falling towers/blades/parts, dead critters, etc, etc...

Buy equity stock in the companies. The return on your investment will be better.

Ross is on the right track

You will be way ahead financially to buy stock in the company. They will probably get a bunch of govt. money. In Louisiana right now, you can get 80% rebates on going solar. 30% state and 50% federal. Don't know of anything for wind power.

thumb nail numbers say that at my current cost of electrics, that is around 342000 kilowatt hours worth of grid power. If the windmill puts out maximum power for 49000 days without a breakdown, you break even.. that is 134 years.. doesn't look too good..

IF they stay in business...check out Evergreen SOlar, was supposed to be a sure thing..but they did not get the Fed money like a few others here in the US and are going bankrupt as we speak.

Competition here and abroad has more to do with success than the technology, especially if it is going to be made abroad and sold here.

Well I power my vehicle with wind and a little solar. I took the traditional approch to wind though and use sails to directly power the boat's forward motion. No sense converting it to electricity, storing it then using it in a motor IMHO.

I'm betting that it will be something like this on most houses in 50 years. Combo of wind and solar. Once we get past the idea that it is "ugly" (which it's not imho) we will have significantly decreased our energy needs via fossil fuels. It will just take time.
