I have the M28 right angle drill, and am going to add a the bit to allow me to use on the boat (H36 - mainly for going aloft - my butt is too heavy for the admiral to crank up the mast, and she does not like going up).

I noticed that there are 2 options - Winchbit ($49) and The Cranker ($35).....

There are references to both in the forums, but I havent found any comparison.....have any of you see the 2 bits side- by-side to compare ?

If so which one seems better quality ? (and is the Winchbit worth the extra $15 ?

Comments ?
Thanks !

I have had both. If I'm not mistaken, the winchbit is 4 sided with a smooth shaft. The Cranker is 8 point and has a shaft with flat surfaces. The Winchbit spun in my drill under heavy loads until I ground some flats on the shaft.

Winch bit has 6 sides and Cranker has 3 sides on the shaft. Just google both to see image.

You're right. They must have changed one of them. I don't see an issue with either of them now.

You can get a 3/4 inch square drive socket extension in a variety of lengths at flea markets. Grind the square to (11/16, I believe) to fit the winch. Cut the shaft and grind three sides for the drill chuck to grip.
