Winch servicing Cat 309

Hi all,

Has anyone been successful in servicing the Lewmar winches on the Cat 309.?

Ours have the large gear facing the coaming , so it’s not possible to slide the gear out.

The winches are also bedded down with silicon which is going to make them difficult to remove and turn around.

Currently we’ve just been able to clean and grease without removing, but oiling the Pawls is not possible

Any suggestions

need photos of your winch placements as on the C310 I can do all 4 with no problems.

Same problem on my 2009 (#174), see post on Nov 9, 2015. I'm now thinking all 309s have those winches installed in a non-serviceable orientation.

Done what we can without removing the winch, hope the Pawls keep clicking..
