Winch replacement

I am looking to replace my winches on my 222. I have the original barient #8 currently. I was looking at Lewmars #6. It has the same bolt pattern as the barients so I wouldn't have to drill new holes, but looking at some winch charts, they say the #8 barients are equivalent to the lewmar #7 and the harken #6, which have different bolt patterns. I was wondering if anybody has replaced their winches and which you chose. Also, does anyone know off hand what size the jib track is, I am not near the boat for awhile to measure it. I was thinking it was 1 inch, but it could also be 3/4 inch. Thanks for your help.

I'd go with the larger winches. Drilling new holes isn't a big deal. After spending a year and a half rebuilding and upgrading mine (and a few more upgrades this winter and probably some next winter) several more is nothing. There's always a way to do it. The larger winches should have a larger hole circle diameter and wouldn't interfere with the old holes.
