Winch Maintenance

Does anyone know how to unscrew the cap screw in the Barient 28-33 two speed winch to begin the winch maint. process?. I used a 1/4" allen wrench per the Barient manual and gave it all I had without loosening it. The Barient manual gives little direction. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hmmmm...

Are you using a regular allen wrench or an allen wrench socket on a handle? It may be that you just can't get enough torque with the small wrench to break free. (particularly if you have to use its long arm in to reach the cap screw.) Try the socket solution, more torque, less bend (and maybe with a drop of WD40 or some other penetrating oil).Jim"Prospect"
