I've checked the archives and can't seem to find posts on what kind of lubricant to use when servicing winches. I've got four Maxwells on our Hunter 25.5 that are in need. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Maxwell winches

I have Maxwell 2 speed 20's and 23ST's on my Hunter 28.5. I generally use white lithium for the gears and races and a spray lube like Boeshield t-9, WD40, etc. for everything else. Seems to work well. Not sure it makes any difference, but the info provided by Gord below seems to refer to the anchoring winches/windlasses currently made by Maxwell, not the sheet winches that they no longer make.
