I would get the luff dimensions off him first, Barry. Is it a Schaeffer that connects to the Jib Halyard via a swivel and the bow stem plate for the drum? This type of furler has nothing to do with the fore stay. The Jib has a wire in the luff. This set up is OK but if the wind picks up you can't reef the sail.
If it's a CDI with an FF-1 vinyl luff, just get the luff measurement and compare it with your fore stay measurement. You can always cut the vinyl luff to fit your fore stay if you have to. This set up can be reefed. I recommend this brand highly for a small boat. I have one on my 222 with no ball bearings in the drum and it works great for reefing.
