will a Honda 9.9 work on a Cat 25

I just bought a new Honda 9.9 - 20" shaft. I had to buy a new engine mount as well, none of it seems to sit quite right.

Problems:

1.) The engine does not sit low enough in the water even though the bracket is as far down the transom as it can go. ( I think I neet the 27" not 20" lower unit)

2.) I can't tilt the engine up to get the prop all the way out of the water because the tiller control bumps up against the boat.

3.) The mount release handle tangles with the Honda lifting handle

Is anyone using a Honda 9.9 with their Cat25 and making it work? If so any guidance would be VERY welcome.

You got it right

that it's too short a shaft. The "experts" on C25s are here: http://www.catalina-capri-25s.org/forum/default.asp?CAT_ID=1

Thanks for the tip! I didn't even place a post because there was so much info already. Now I know I can go with a Honda 9.9 Xlong shaft and a Catalina Direct 4 Spring motor mount for my Cat 25.

I wish I had read those posts before I spent the whole day installing the wrong mount and wrong engine.

Better late than never though.
