Great idea, and, of course, lovely photo. Wikipedia seems to be becoming as essential as Google.

Perhaps the addition of a link to this forum would bring in some new contributors?

Pretty neat Jimmy.

Lame? How'd you do that? Good introduction too. To enhance it with a URL like Iain suggested or add info, how is that done? You created it so I'm assuming you do the editing?

Hi Rick,

Unfortunately the Wiki people closed the page - probably too lame (Sorry Jimmy!). It's a very good idea. Perhaps we could work on it "offline" and then get it up again, properly referenced and all? And with a link to this forum and the Alden site... The black and white image Jimmy had used was superb and would be good to use again.

Here is the text I originally used.
Alden Challenger
The Alden Challenger was one of a group of early fiberglass cruising yachts that included the Block Island 40, Rhodes Bounty II, and Bermuda 40. It is 38 feet 6 inches long with an 11 foot beam (this was considered quite beamy at the time). Some have argued that the Challenger was Alden's response to the Concordia Yawl, but considering the Challenger's specifications it is more likely an Alden version of Sparkman & Stevens Finisterre.

Arthur Beiser's The Proper Yacht has a great deal of information from which we could quote. Pehaps The people at Alden may have some information we might use.

Here is the vintage photo of my Challenger Kittiwake When she was owned by her first owner, Dr. Day
