I am the new owner of a nice 1974 Widgeon. When the boat is motionless in the water, just rolling on the swells, the CB clunks. Is this normal? When I am under sail, there are no sounds from the CB. The CB bolt is not leaking, so I assume it is tight enough.

Josh, I already answered you direct, but for others who may have that problem...... it is "normal", once under sail the sideways pressure on the CB will stop the clunking. That is also why it is hard to move the CB unless you head up into the wind slightly to take some of the sideways pressure off.
