A few weeks ago I asked for ideas and tips on the installation of teak plugs on a swim step I was refinishing and then re-installing.
As usual, the advice I got was terrific....especially the advice several gave about using a wood chisel with the bevel down to slice off the top of the teak plug. That worked like a charm! That technique shaved every plug off flush with the top of the adjacent wood - I never touched the wood with sandpaper.
I'm going to try to attach a bad picture...still have a coat of finish to apply once the temps move down from the 100 degrees we've been getting.
Can't thank the members of this forum enough. I learn something nearly every day when I check the Ask All Sailors forum and I'm continually amazed at the spirit of generosity all of you display when you dispense great, practical, proven advice. Thank you!
