Why no used sails for my 22

Search as I may I find no used sails for my 1974 Oday22. It is a recent purchase and believe it or not the date on the main is 6/74. I have just finished repairing the existing sails (tape and stitch, whew!), but realize the need to replace these guys because like me they are 'old'. Spending over a thousand dollars for sails is a little tough right now so I have been surfing the web to find good used sails. No-one I have found has used sails for an Oday22. Any ideas out there? HELP! Thanks for any help mort

Know your sail dimensions

If you do not know them, check sailrite.com or sailwarehouse.com and they might have them. Armed with the dimensions, google the term 'used sails'. You will find quite a selction of generic (not boat specific) used sails available, usally sorted by luff. I get you will find a lot of sails that will fit your boat. Good Luck, Craig Boston

thanks for the leads. I have the I-J-P-E for my boat and am able to find lots of used sail dealers in my 'Good Old Boad' mag but my search has been unsuccessful. I will try your two leads thanks much. Mort

Bacon and Associates

I'd call Bacon and Associates in Anapolis, MD. They have a huge inventory of used sails and they will know the exact sail dimensions you need. The sails will probably have been intended for another boat but they'll work great. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
