Why is my Genoa so hard to hoist?

Just pointing out the OP had posted it was an older picture and the forestay had been replaced. :stir:
I wish I was the OP that would mean I would be in a warmer place and not dealing with -36 c
this morning.

Check your Luff tape. Make sure its not frayed.Sometimes they get hung up in the track if the foil is not joined properly.

Hi all,

thanks again for all your comments. I confirm, the photo was taken when I first bought the boat, since then the forestay has been replaced. Recently I had new sails made to the spec for this boat, interestingly the new Genoa is taller than the old sail ( The picture show a red strop to the head of the sail, just out of view ) so using the slot in the mast below the masthead as previously suggested won't work as the head of the new sail is more or less level with it!! Im stuck with finding a solution as currently rigged so Im hoping its just a frozen sheave - clearly I need to go up and check it out.
