A friend sent this to me, I haven't laughed so hard in ages! Last summer down on Lake Isabella, located in the > high desert an hour east of Bakersfield CA, some > folks new to boating were having a problem. No > matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their > brand new 22 foot boat going. It was very sluggish > in almost every maneuver no matter how much power > they applied. After about an hour of trying to make > it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking > someone there may be able to tell them what was > wrong. A thorough topside check revealed everything > in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, > the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller > was the correct size and pitch. So one of the marina > guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He > came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard. > (NOW REMEMBER...THIS IS TRUE.) > Under the boat, still strapped securely in place ... > was the trailer! >

Call myth busters...

This myth is as old as the ice fishermen that went out and used dynamite to blow a hole in the ice. One guy threw it onto the ice and his dog went to retrive it. They started yelling at the dog, the dog got scared and ran underneath one of the guy's new truck, the rest is history (as was the new truck and the dog)...

Right

I have heard probably 10 different versions of this story over the past few years. I don't know where it started, or how much truth there is in it,( I doubt there is any truth at all here ) but it has been around a long time.

Look ma. No straps!

Another flaw in the myth. If the boat was secured to the trailer, why did they have to dive to find out. Were there not straps or lines visible from the surface?

Seen it

I am originaly from upstate NY and a rich man had just bought a new donzi 30 some foot speed boat, I was at the pumps filling up my 18 foot wellcraft when this guy pulls up to the boat ramp and just pulls part way up to reveal a trailer!!! At this point I didnt know what to do. The man walks over to marina hand and asks why he could get his boat over 15 mph!!!! Omg it was hillarious. So it does happen and I was lucky enough to actually wittness it.

Hi folks, to check the validity of stories you read on the web...check out www.truthorfiction.com or www.snopes.com both do the same thing. Jack Hart

Would know whether he unhooked the trailer from the vehicle with the boat still on it or not.
