Why do people not like the wing/swing keel?

I have an '85 Hunter 23 and love the performance changes with the daggerboard down upwind, and raised downwind. Why do so many people dislike them? If you have ever raced a board boat, raising and lowering boards are second nature. This is the easiest system I have used, the board floats so it pops up when the cleat is released. So whats the problem? Why did they stop making them? David Mosley BTW May 17-18, Tommy Whiteside memorial Regatta- open to all Hunters, especially 23's. link below

love mine

I love my wing swing I beleive that I have the best of both worlds with this keel. It is my understanding that they stop building this design because of breakage being covered under warranty and was costing Hunter money to repair the keels.

I dont know if this helps,,but I use to own and race FK boats,,my fave and most responsive in Light and Heavy Air was the SanJuan24, 3200lbs 780lb Keel drew 4'. I have yet to take possesion of my 'new' (1981) Hunter22*, but am looking forward to sailing her in our 'skinny' waters. I was thinking about doing a Modification on her, a Shoal Draft type Keel that runs on both sides of Hull just for less Side Slip when I am Keel Up. Will be small by design, but should be effective. Any thoughts on this are welcome. Thankya, Johnny
