I am searching for a 40.5 and there are several available for sale in CT. Did everybody decided to sell them at once? Are they from a sailing school? or charter company? What is going on here? Zambra

Sailing Specialties

Sailing Specialties is a very successful Hunter dealer/broker in Mystic, CT. They are probably the listing agent on most of the boats you mention. As far as I know, there are no large sailing schools in CT, and bareboats, while available, are mostly private situations. There are no bareboat "fleets" in LI sound. Ct 40.5's

I found the same thing a few months ago when I purchased a used 40.5 from Sailing Specialties who I can't say enough good things about to do them justice. In our search, each had its own story but we did find a few good candidates to choose from. I think we looked at about 7 different 40.5s from one with some damage when the mast fell to some which the owner had what we found to be an inflated view of value but generally the reason(s) for selling all related to wanting a bigger (usually a cc Hunter) boat or a power boat (go figure...). We went from a 27 footer to this and it's still early to reach a verdict but I have thus far been impressed with the quality, handling, speed and general comfort and thoses backstays are comforting.
