Hey all. I finnaly got all the crap installed to fly my asymetrical. Now that its done, I've had some problems. First setting up is really a snap now, and I have a stasher combo, I only sail right now with wife unit. We got into a jam, the wind picked up as we were both really impressed by the shear size of this thing, Its really something to behold if you've never flown one. Anyway the wind picked up and I failed to really notice the following seas getting a little bigger, well I tried the Gybe portion, since I thought I had the flying part down. We did, and a headstay wrap in about 12-16 mph winds, we were kinda teetertotering around untill we almost broached and I almost feel in (twice). Now I just pull sock down and gybe redeploy, after someone had e-mailed a better method. That works. But I do have a question, I have known boats to be pulled straight into the water flying a spinaker, and I looked at my capsize rating, kinda high I have a 26.5, What are the chances that a broach using an asymetrical could happen, and under what kind of conditions. I will race with this thing, and I will have crew that are more capable than wife, so if I crash in a race so be it. I just want to know if im out with me and my wife, under what kind of conditions do you think I should not fly the kite. This is really considering a 26.5. Cause it seems to me we are a light boat than most. Thanks Cheers TJ

Hi Cheers

Double handling any spinnaker is a little like over working the crew. The Aysim is like a big, really big jib but needs to be flown. At take down time, you need hands to help bring it down. When you have crew and the wind is strong or is building, you can always dump the sail when the pressure builds to the point that you can no longer control the boat. With wife unit as only crew, I'd fly the chute only in light air. Good Luck, but have fun.
