Hi,
A week ago a micro-burst thunder storm rage though our area. Winds topped 40-50+. The other day I get a call from boat yard saying that the boat next to where they were storing my cradle was blown over on my cradle and smashed it. I'm not sure why it took them a week to tell me of the damage. They are telling me that they are sending me an estimate for repair so I can submit to my insurance. I get the estimate and it's for $480 and I have a $500 deductible. My insurance agent is saying why bother with the claim since it's less than the deductible. I'm sitting here wondering why I should be out $500 for damage to my cradle that was being stored by the boat yard, I had no interaction where or how it was stored, and someone else boat fell on it. I should also state that I have no relationship with this yard, other than this is were the boat was stored when I bought it this spring. The storage and cost was covered by the PO. When the boat was launched, I asked about the cover and cradle and was told that they would store it until I decided where I was planning on going for my winter storage. Shouldn't they or the owner of the boat that fell on it cover the repairs? Should I report it to my insurance and hope they fight the battle?
