Whitlock Mamba steering

I have play in the steering of the OE Whitlock Mamba system otherwise it works well. I have searched for a parts and service manual to no avail. I can find one for their Cobra model, but not the Mamba. The Cobra system has adjustment through the removal of shims, but I am unsure if the Mamba is built the same. Lewmar seems to be useless unless you are buying their new stuff. All the references I find so far are for the A/P drive unit and I am needing the pedestal and gear units.

I know the Lewmar Mamba on my boat but I never heard of a Whitlock Mamba

Whitlock was the manufacturer they then were bought by Lewmar. You will see Lewmar-Whitlock now.

Simple Life, are you still sailing the Hunter 456? I have the 2002 model and am interested in comparing notes. I'm going through an issue with the Mamba drive motor now.... Ray
