Does anyone else have a problem with white "fluffy" mold or fungi on wood and canvas surfaces on your boat? If so, what have you done to get rid of it?

Fungus

The most effective method of preventing fungus growth is to KEEP it DRY and provide ADEQUATE VENTILATION. Fungi growth requires: 1. an oxygen supply, 2. temperature in the 40 to 100 F range, 3. a supply of sufficient moisture, 4.and a food source (wood). Infection can be prevented by eliminating any one of the requirements. Obviously, it's hard to limit oxygen. Temperature control is tough too, since most living things thrive in this range. And even at subfreezing temperatures, many fungi don't die - they just go dormant.

green mold

Up here in the Great Lakes I was getting a green mold on the teak. The mold feeds off of the teak oil. I switched to cetol and no more mold.
