All white sanitation hose is not created equal
Some permeate faster than others--some a LOT faster (as people who've tried to save money by buying hot tub hose from Home Depot have learned the hard way). AVS96 from AussieGlobe http://www.aussieglobe.com/avs96.htm is white hose...it's been proven in independent testing to be at least 16x more resistant to odor permeation than any other hose on the planet. The original SeaLand "OdorSafe" hose was SeaLand's private label brand name for AVS96, However, shortly after Dometic—a European mfr who specializes primarily in RV equipment--acquired SeaLand from N.A. Taylor, SeaLand switched to an Italian hose mfr (whose hose, btw, proved considerably LESS resistant to AVS96 when SeaLand commissioned the above-mentioned tests). The Aussies are now selling AVS96 hose direct here in the US--and for a LOT less than SeaLand charged for it, or for their new OdorsafePlus...$5.50/ft, cut to any length vs. nearly $9/ft for SeaLand in min. 50' coils. However, if chemical household or institutional bowl cleaners and other cleaning products, especially bleach or anything containing bleach, pine oil cleaners, etc are used, they can break down even the best hose's resistance to odor permeation. And no hose is 100% bulletproof...eventually even AVS96 will permeate, especially if waste is left sitting in it all the time. It just takes a lot longer than any other hose.To answer your question, the hot wet rag test works on ANY hose.
