To take this to the extreme ...

anyone who ever tended bar knows that you have to have the lines from the kegs downstairs in the big frige cleaned on a regular basis ... stuff does grow inside pipes and tubes. There are actual guys that come around to clean the systems. I don't think you can die from the stuff ... but it does do something to the taste and every once and a while little pieces pop off and into the mug ... Serious beer guys get really turned off when this happens. Sort of like the problem with too much CO2 vs. too little. Flat beer is no beer. Got to keep an eye on that CO2 dial. But in anycase ... who wants to drink chemically pure water anyway? Vic "Seven"

What fish do in water

After I realized what the fish do in the water I decided beer was a safer choice. No need to clean any hoses out, just ice it down and pop the top.

Hose

I am guessing that Peggy is talking about the hose that would be used inside the boat in the fresh/drinking water system and that Don is referring to the type of hose that would run from the tap on the dock to the boat's deck fill. If so they are both right. The interior hose will not let in light, but the exterior hose may. http://www.boatersworld.com/product/176510014.htm
