White Drainage Build up on Awlgrip Paint

While playing catch up with the brightwork on Thalassa I am doing our annual wax job on the awl grip. Since we are planning to make it to several boat shows this year I am doing many of the "minor details" that have crept up since we painted her 3 years ago.

How would you attack this issue without damaging the paint underneath?

I would start with lime away or a vinegar solution. If that does not work I would go with bar keepers friend (oxalic acid). If that does not work, I'd try some baking soda on a damp rag. And if all that fails, I'd buff it out.

1000 grit wet sand and machine buff the polish and wax. Check out polymer sealants, they work on cars and do a good job of sealing which keeps residue from settling onto/into the paint or you'll have to clean, polish, wax quarterly.

They say that, but it has been done with success. Imron is also a paint that you don't mess with after it hardens but I have done it with with no problems too.
