Any recommendations for a whisker pole for a Hunter 26'. Thanks for the help. Monte Brown

I use a boat hook

For my 23.5 I bought an 8 to 12 foot extendable boat hook and a kit with the end fitting from West Marine. It was quick easy and available immediately. Your boat is the largest I would try with this size pole. I heavy winds an 1 1/4 pole may not be strong enough.

Forespar's recommendations...

...are at the link below. The used H26 I bought last year came with an ADJ 6-12, which Forespar says is undersized for my boat. They're probably right; the pole's friction twist adjustment has allowed it to collapse down to 6 feet under sail a few times, but no harm was done and I still use it. If you can live with a fixed length, you can save some money by buying the end fittings from Forespar and getting a length of rigid aluminum tube from a local metal shop.

whisker pole

I bought an ajustable telescoping pool cleaning pool, and bonded in the fittings sold at west marine. The pole is blue anodized 6061T6 Aluminum, and has worked out very well. Total cost about $50.00 dollars. Dan S/V 'Unruly Julie'

PVC pipe works

The trick is attaching the fittings, which you can find in the marine catalogues. Ten or 12 feet should do it, but test first for flexibility so it doesn't snap under load.
