I have a 23' O'day and last year we rigged a whisker pole with the boat hook in light winds to go wing on wing. It worked ok but we had to keep checking it. New whisker poles seems too expensive to me. Does anyone have an idea on how to make a "home made" pole that would work? It was a fun sail in that it was so relaxing and quite. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Chuck

Chuck: Your question rang a bell, and fortunately I still have a few brain cells that didn't get fried by the sun and wind over the weekend. I recalled something on the Practical Sailor website, and the link should give you an idea. It's from a Catalina 22, so the size is comparable. (And you're so-o-o-o right about the price of new whisker poles.) Pete
