Perhaps I can get some help here. I've decided to get a whisker pole for my catalina 310. I've read the catalogs and pretty sure the forespar LC 10-18 is right (I'd like to think the 8-14 would work). The real question: for holding the headsail out, how far up the mast do I mount the ring???? I see other boaters with spinnaker tracks way up there. Thanks for any insights Bill

You want the ring to be at the height that allows the pole to be parallel with the water when the sail is set. The advantage of the spin track is that it allows the pole to set properly with sails of different clew heights.

I have the forespar LC 10-18 on my Catalina 320,works great. Forespar will tell you the 8-14 is too small.Dave is right on about padeye height.
