Does any one know where the mast pads(for the whisker pole attachment) should be placed on the mast for a Hunter 26? Specifically, I am looking for information about how high off the deck they should be placed?
I would suggest you put a track on your mast to make you whisker pole attachment adjustable. If you attach it to a stationary fixed point, your jib sheets are sure to find it and get tangled when tacking. I know this first hand. Also, if the pad eye is adjustable, you will be able to make the adjustments needed for different wind conditions.
...the inboard end of the pole should be level with the clew, regardless of whether a jib or a spinnaker is being poled out. That's why an adjustable fitting on a track is desirable: keeps the pole level in varying conditions and at varying points of sail.
