I need to get a whisker pole for the Oday 25 I just bought with a 155 genoa. I am wondering if the West Marine Forspar 6-12 (11 ft max working length) model is long enough. The next step up is about 17 ft max but the cost goes from $100 to $300.
Tim - You really need more like 12 or 13 feet to pole the sail out effectively. From your headstay to the mast is 10' 6". That would make an 11' pole about right for a working jib. Haivng the shorter pole would be better than having nothing if you reef the sail down to fit, but if you really want the system to work well you need the bigger pole. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
