I recently purchased a 1998 Hunter 340 and had it transported to Kelowna BC from Alameda CA. I am now hearing a whining sound when under power just over 2,000 rpm's. I never heard this before when I was sailing before the move. The noise is only present when the boat is in gear, while in neutral it sounds really good. I would appreciate any suggestions. Ken

Alternator?
Just a WAG here, but on a car engine, a whining noise can be caused by a bad alternator. It may not whine at idle because there is less load on the engine and electrical system. Cactus
