Which way does your wind angle indicator "point"

On my previous boat the needle on the Raymarine wind-angle indicator pointed "into" the face of the wind. On my new boat the needle points 180 degrees from where I'm used to seeing it ....after many years it is taking me awhile to adapt. in fact I don't even use the damn thing now. which way is correct? have looked for reversed connections etc. but have found nothing. which is "right" ? it must be stuck

on my and probably most Windexes, the arrow end is flat while the tail end is vertical, therefore the point is into the wind.... perhaps your's is stuck pointing aft?

Check the Manual

Jeff, Do You have the manuals for your instruments? The wind instrument may need to be recalibrated. Check the Raymarine website for pdf format manuals. http://www.raymarine.com/raymarine/Default.asp?Page=645&Section=3 fair winds, Dave

keep in mind that raymarine instruments were meant for the other side of the road.

ST60

I see on your web page you have ST50 instruments, I've got ST60's but the wind instrument "points" toward the wind as if the top of the dial is the bow of the boat. I would assume the ST50 should do the same since the pictogram seems to indicate a bow at the top as well. Does this happen in both true and apparent wind settings? Is it possible the transducer at the masthead is installed incorrectly? (although I can't imagine how this would have to be to cause a 180 deg shift). I would say contact Raymarine for technical help but from what I've read on this board that may be a futile effort. If you've already checked these and done the calibration thing I'd say you need to get a replacement transduc or control head, one of them is whacked. Good luck, Jim

Masthead Transducer

Ok, one more question, is your transducer mounted so it angles out in front of or behind the mast? Jim

Forward of the mast and not stuck

Thanks to all for the suggestions...but alas not sure I have an answer yet. FYI, Transducer is mounted on front of mast and it is not stuck. Moves freely and works well, just 180 degrees different than previous boat. Jeff

Maybe you already got this fixed, but

This may not be relevant to your model, but I'll almost bet if you swap the + & - power leads going to your direction transducer(mast head unit, the output will flip 180 degrees. Or just swap the output leads from the masthead unit. I can think of a couple of possible problems, like this blowing a fuse, so check out the polarity on the inputs vs what the manual says first.
