CDI for a small boat!

William: A CDI furler is a good choice for a smaller boat. Reasonably priced too. You can always purchase then next size up if you are in doubt.

Snap Furler

I have a Schaefer Snap Furler on my 1988 H23. I bought it from Sailnet for $399 including shipping. It is a good quality product. I'm very happy with the performance. The front stay will have to be shortened and an extender from the chain plate to the top of the anchor well will have to be installed. I think this would be true no matter which brand you chose.

Harken roller furling on my H23

I have a Harken Roller furler on mine. Have had no trouble with it, except when I got the furling line in correctly overlapped inside the drum. Then we un-furled and refurled a few times until we got it right. And made sure we put some WD40 in the appropriate places. Last summer we broke the jib halyard block at the top of the mast that runs the jib up, and ended up in a situation where we could not lower the jib, but that problem had nothing to do with the roller furling.
