Hello, I'm in the market for a hunter, probably looking at 37.5 - 41 or so for coastal cruising. I can't tell by these floor plans, do any of these have the separate showerstall? specifically 38, 40.5 Also I really like the models I've seen with the large square windows above the salon...really makes me feel I'm not in a dungeon. Is it a major source of leaks? thanks for the info! SHawn

Separate Showers

There are only 2 boats in the Hunter line which offer a separate shower - as in a completely separate shower room. They are the 450 and the 460. But, I think both the 410 and the 430 offer a separate shower area within one of the heads on the boat. As far as the large salon skylights are concerned, these are on most of the recent models. shower

the 410 has a separate shower in the main head. Can be separated with a shower curtain. Haven't had any problems with leaks in the "sky lights" and it does lighten things up. Bryce S/V SpellBinder H410

go to "the boats" section here on the Hunter web site and there are the layouts for most of the models

Not true Mr. Owen...

My 1979 H37C has a very nice separate shower stall. :) It is also a dungeon.

Leaky skylights

Skylights are nice for light, but if they are mounted on a flat surface it is probably a matter of time before they will begin to leak need to be resealed. On our 88 Legend 35, I've had to reseal 3 of 4 skylights in the year and a half I've owned her. Its a common problem on this boat.

thanks

Thanks for the info.. yeah the 37.5 seems perfect for coastal work. It sure is confusing with hunters models numbers when you're looking used to new, 37.5, 376, 40,40.5,41...but shoppings the fun part so just more information to sit up with a cup of joe and daydream =)

Try the Passage 42

You will love the ol' Passage 42. Pre-1998...I have one and we have a separate shower in the forward head for our guests, and a separate shower in our half-bathtub in the owner's aft stateroom. I was looking for exacty the same boat as you.

Skylights & Showers

I live aboard my 94 35.5 and it has a separate shower as does the 37.5. The stall is not a separate room but it works just fine. The head floor does get wet but it's easy to wipe dry. My boat has skylights which are nice in the winter but they're murder in the summer. I just had covers made for the main hatch, salon hatch and skylights to keep the sun OUT and the heat down. It makes a big difference on the the efficiency of the a/c.

Big difference in performance

Depending on where and how you want to sail the boats you are looking at differ by alot more than their shower arrangement. Look at the performance ratios on this site. The 37.5 has a sail area/displacement of 17.4 while the 376/380 is 22.3 This will make a big difference in performace in light winds, and the point at which you reef in higher winds.
