That's what these forums are for.

Being a moderator who is also a participant is extremely difficult because as Dale Carnegie said, no one likes to even have their ideas criticized. But forums like this won't work unless people feel free to correct others' mistakes. He should encourage that and never chastise anyone for being wrong, only for being insulting.

I did not see your quote of Joe's. I fully own that. However nobody that I saw recommended that Joe buy another TV. Our discussions were about the OP who had/has not yet bought one.

Please keep in mind that my being a mod jas nothing to do with this posting. I was a member like you loooong before I became a mod. Us mods are not perfect either. Sorry for missing that quote and incorrectly assuming you were referring to the OP not Joe. Apparently I too did not read carefully enough, though I always referenced that I was talking about the OP and NEVER suggested Joe upgrade. We were not "leading" Joe down "a more expensive path" as no one was talking to Joe before his first post and all discussions were about the OP who had not yet bought a TV.

We as mods or admins do not do our work publicly unless it is a general guidance statement to all posters.. My post was as Maine Sail not as a mod. If it were as a mod you'd have had a behind the scenes PM. I have to wear many hats here and I have NO problem with "ideas" or having my writings challenged, it happens all the time.

In a case like this there is no right or wrong unless one were to wire it in an unsafe manner. There is only better or slightly less better. I think we can all agree that buying a dedicated 12V TV, at a comparable price to an inverter and 110v TV, that is upwards of 30% more energy efficient, is not a bad suggestion.

In Joe's case he should stick with what he has already... Again sorry for missing the quote..
