Would love to know before I pull it for rebuild
Looks like the Whale Gusher 10 to me...we have one just like it that we got 6 years ago. FWIW, I recently contacted them since all of the paint is flaking off the thing both inside & out. 2 weeks have gone by and still no answer. Suppose they don't care 'cuz no one else makes a product that mounts the same as this? I'm gonna try calling them tomorrow to see what gives...
Oh, and by the way, once the paint comes off, the metal (aluminum?) corrodes like crazy until the valve seats are kaput. Once we get to that point, it's off to blow another 200 or more boat bucks. The bucket is looking better & better all the time!

After six years I would think a little rebuild and restoration might be in order. Especially in a salt water environment.

When I was rebuilding mine. I contacted the US representative for Whale and he was able to identify it. I had taken it out so I could get some better photo's. When I went to rebuild it some of the screws were rusted solid, it was 25 years old. So I ended up replacing the whole thing.

Our boat has the Edson pump. I replaced a flapper valve last season and found them very helpful. I believe the pump was original to the boat (30 years). The ratings are impressive and I know they work well. Not cheap but worth it.

I'm gonna have to agree with 'All U Get' on this...I tried contacting Whale US with the number off their website. They have a message directing customers to call Attwood. Call Atwood..."we don't know anything about Whale". So... I guess I'm gonna keep this pump going as long as I can (because of the mounting holes, etc.), then bite the bullet and go with something like the Edson unit.
Meanwhile, I emailed Whale tech support in the UK... let's see where this goes...

Well...I got a reply already from a Josh Phillips who is the Industrial Sales Manager for Attwood in Michigan! He advised using Bondo to fill in the pitted areas of the valve seats and repaint the body (he suggested Rustoleum, but I'll probably use JB Weld and epoxy paint.). Looks like he's the go-to guy for Whale. If anybody has issues, his email is: joshp@whalepumps.com
