If you're looking to retire and go sailing, what's been said above is worth repeating. You'll have the time to fix things, but will you really want to have to do that? Endeavors have the reputation for being dependable and fairly well-constructed. Beneteaux are known for relatively good performance and light construction. Will a cast-iron keel be a maintenance issue? Is the Endeavor's keel bolt-on or encapulated? Consider having to fix or replace all the creature-comforts in either boat in your comparison. It might be a good idea to consider how well the two might stand up to having your entire weight thrown against a door or joinery down below. Will they stand up? Metal-framed hatches and ports tend to leak less. Strong and convenient handholds on deck and below are important as well, especially if you're getting older.
Bon vent!

Hey salut! Salut et bienvenu! ;)

So, are you getting what you need from this thread? I notice that you haven't come back to tell us more about what you want to do. In particular, is sailing going to be your sole and overriding activity? Are you going to be a full-time cruising live-aboard? Ocean-crosser?

I have to say that I've seen too many people buying "too much" boat, then through illness, money problems, or simply a change in interest... regret sinking so much into one boat. I've run into more than one sailor who's deliberately downsized.
