We purchased a catalina 22 day sailer 2 years ago and have fallen in love with sailing. We have only sailed on a lake so far. We are considering moving up to a bigger boat that we can use for ocean sailing. What we are looking for being novices to the sport is a boat that we feel is extremely safe in deep water so we can venture far offshore as we get better at sailing. Our question is which boat should we get, how old is too old and how big? Any advice we can get from veteran sailors would be welcomed>
