Fact about Beer!

I just read an article in today's paper about beer being recession-proof. See the related link. In times of a poor economy, beer has always performed well. I guess when one is unemployed, he had more time for a beer. Unfortunately, this article refers to Budweiser. Not MY choice, but give me a good, cold Nut Brown ale.

The most popular beer in the world....

You have to look here to find out? Here's a hint, the shiled on the label on the bottle says: This is the famous __________ beer. We know of no brand produced by any other brewer that costs so much to brew and age. Our exclusive beechwood aging (figured it out yet?) produces a smoothness a taste and a drinkability that you will find in no other beer and at any other price. If I made any mistakes, I humbly apologize, I am doing this from memory. I find it difficult these days to alter my allegience to my first choice when it comes to beer. It doesn't matter how much pressure my peers place on me, remember, peer pressure is a bad thing when it comes to drinking. And oh yeah, just remember, you actually rent the stuff, and the margins on a six-pack of micro-brew (if you can find an honest small brewer) are greater than on a case of the good stuff. So of course, just like with automobiles, the marketers would have us believe that our personal worth is directly a result of the products we own and or enjoy. Lining their pockets along the way I might add. As cold as possible on a hot day too, please. Geof s/v Day-0 p.s. - If you haven't gotten it by now, it's refered to as the "King of Beers" by it's producer.

I was very disappointed to find that the Beck's draft booth was not at the Atlantic City Sailexpo this year. I probably retained more of the seminars thought. Sailing IS supposed to be fun and relaxing isn't it?

Where have all the good beers gone? My grandfather had the best...Old Bohemium. Cost...about $2.65 for a CASE and it was always kept at room temperature the way a beer is best. Actually room temperature in the cellar, around 60 degrees. CHEERS dave

Easy to answer

The one you have with your best buddy after a long, strenuous day doing something you both love. My very best was a Schlitz after a day of rock-climbing 33 years ago in West Virginia. If they all tasted like that one, I'd be an alcoholic. Beers are like boats - everyone's taste is different, thus more than one brand. I no longer care for Schlitz, but if you're buying, well...

Don't forget

the beer of the Bahamas: What is it? Clickat? I forget the spelling. Not only is the attitude right, but it's mighty fine beer.

Asahi Dry

Asahi Dry, right out of the vending machine at the train station in Tokyo is the best beer. Dave

Well, there you have it...

I was last in the Bahamas with a bunch of Texans and the brand was pronounced "click" on our boat. Unfortunately, I have only a fuzzy memory of what the can looks like. :)

My wife and I were fortunate enough to visit 'Briland a while back. What a wonderful brew. We were there a few weeks before Christmas. While we were there the locals were getting ready for Junkanoo. What a magical time. Here's a link....

Depends on the time of year

Theakston's Old Peculiar - a Yorkshire Strong Ale, is great in winter. And I like my hom -brew just about any time. One more - for summer - Traunsteiner from Bavaria - you have to go easy with the translation... http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.beertest.de/Kiesel%2520Br%25E4u%2520Traunsteiner%2520Edel-Hell.htm&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dtraunsteiner%2Bbier%26num%3D30%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26newwindow%3D1%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DG%26as_qdr%3Dall

It's all about the Lime, Ya'll! Shiner Bock is a great choice as well, but nothing beats a cold Corona on those 70 degree January days out on the bay!
