Hey Alan

Hi Alan, I hope I haven't lost your tel. number now that Melvin is gone. (Our email address is posted on this site!) We did go for the new 260 and I'm hoping you will be available to give us some pointers especially when we launch the boat for the first time. We expect delivery the first week of May. Very excited- We are looking forward to meeting you and your family. How old are your kids? Ours are 20, 17, 11, 7. All boys except for the 7yr old. Stay in touch. I'll keep you posted. Best Regards, Joyce and Bob

pop top

Wouff- thanks for the input. We saw a picture of the poptop on this site and decided to hold off on a companionway cover. Where did you get your poptop from? Did you get it directly from Hunter (factory installed) or from Ameriseam? Approx how much did you pay for it w/ the screens? Definately looks like a wise investment. (I am over 5'7". Thanks again, Joyce and Bob

Pop Top

I second (or third?) the motion to go for the Pop Top. I also suggest that you ask Ameriseam to make you a vinyl cover to use when it is too cold for the screen door. You can zip the vinyl closed and then put the hatchboards in. That way you can stay warm and/or dry and still be able to move around in the boat. I am 5'8" and couldn't live without the Pop Top. Enjoy your new boat!

No Pop-Top -- do a DODGER!

No Pop-Top go with a dodger.. The dodger is classic and doesn't give that cheap "trailer" look, plus it will cover the winchs controls, and more! Look around.. see any Pop tops ..get some class!

Big step

On the 260 model isn't it a big step to get over the dodger to go forward? I haven't seen a dodger on a 260.

Yes my 26 has a dodger the dealer arranged for with a local canvas maker "Cramers Custom Canvas" @ 860 599 3601 in Pawkatuck, CT we paid +- 1,500 for the dodger and matching main sail cover all made out of deep navy blue sunbrella. A ss rack folds down fowrard when not in use also the forward glass will zip out and roll up if you want air through on hot days. The whole unit will zip out from the frame rather quickly and can be stored below for winter or trailering. We like it, and yes a step is required to go foward, but small. Also we can zip out the side window completely and unsnap and have little problem other then narrowness going forward next to the winch and lifeline. You can leave it out while sailing and attach while moored or docked etc. The weather is completely out of the hatch area and astern several feet, and across to the side rails. We have a furlor so going forward is now minimized.
