Awesome sail today on the Barnegat Bay! Wind is running 20-30kn+ today with 2-3-foot chop, so we ran double-reefed main with the #2 jib. Our Morgan 28 OI handled this with ease: beating into the WNW wind we made 5-6 knots with no excessive heeling and balanced rudder. Wondering why we only saw 2 other sailboats out there:confused:
(and...I didn't even lose my ball cap this time... HA! :D)

The wind whistles in my ears when it is that fast and makes conversation difficult. 6 to 12 knots is my kind of sailing.

Our boat is currently on the hard until spring BUT that is the best kind of sail when you challenge yourself and the boat sails beautifully. We had a beautiful sail this fall where it was blowing 18-20 and we had the boat balanced beautifully and never touched the helm for 20 minutes and stayed on course, not overpowered! what a great feeling!

would have been there but the boat is currently in the Caribbean where every day by 2pm we go from 12 kts to 25 kts in a beat back to the marina!! nicest part is the 90 degree breeze....

The Barnegat wind on Sunday was too much for me and my timid wife to get out of our Waretown harbor but we were out there today! 12 - 15 out of the WNW with puffs up to 22. We made 6.9 knts on our Catalina 28 by Tice's Shoal! Only saw two other sailors out there today.

Same on the Ches. in the past few days .... the cooler temperatures increase the 'density' of the winds making 15kts behave like 20kts. during the less dense humid mid summer winds.

LOVES them "Nantucket Sleigh Rides" ... close to the windward shore with little fetch and going faster than a scalded cat - hmmmmmmmmmmm.

We were out there this weekend also. Showing 18-22 steady with occasional 28kt gusts. Just need more layers of clothing. Next weekend should prove interesting with lower 40 degree temps and same winds. The horizon seems a bit bare on these days only 5-10 brave ones.:D

Not going out today. We have steady 13 knt winds with frequent gusts to 30 knt.
Those conditions happen frequently here. I'm ready to move, I tell ya what!
